Lake Como isn’t just a nudist resort it’s also home to one of the most peaceful, biodiverse trail systems in the Tampa Bay region. Our Nature Preserve encompasses roughly 111 acres of protected wetland and woodland, creating a quiet refuge where members, guests, and wildlife all thrive side by side. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker, a casual stroller, or someone looking for a moment of calm between activities, Como’s trail network offers something for everyone.
Winding through tall pines, fern-filled marshes, sandy paths, hidden lakes, and shady boardwalks, these trails reveal the quieter side of Como: the birds calling over the wetlands, gopher tortoises sunning themselves, deer passing through the pines, and turtles resting along the shoreline. Every visit feels a little different — and every turn invites you deeper into nature.
One of Como’s most beloved family activities is our Critter Trail, a playful, interactive walking path where children (and adults!) can search for hidden animal plaques along the route. Each ‘critter” represents real wildlife that lives at Como; turtles, frogs, herons, gopher tortoises, raccoons, owls, and more.
To make it even more fun, the Critter Trail includes a scavenger hunt sheet where guests can check off each animal as they find it. Kids love the challenge, adults love the walk, and everyone ends up learning something new about the nature preserve. The Critter Trail is an easy, short loop and perfect for families, first-time hikers, and anyone who wants a gentle outdoor adventure.
We’ve recently added brand-new geocaches throughout the Nature Preserve, turning our trail system into a treasure-hunting adventure for teens and adults. Each cache is placed with care to highlight unique features of the preserve: hidden overlooks, scenic boardwalks, interesting plant communities, and quiet wildlife corners.
Guests can use the official Geocaching app to locate each cache or pick up a simple coordinate guide from the office.
