Start Your Naturist Journey with Confidence

A First-Timer’s Guide to Lake Como**
Welcome. You’re in the right place.

Visiting a naturist resort for the first time can feel exciting, freeing, and—yes—a little nerve-wracking. Lake Como is one of the most welcoming naturist communities in the country, and we want your first visit to feel comfortable, safe, and genuinely enjoyable.

This guide explains what naturism is, what you can expect at Lake Como, and how to prepare for your visit so you can relax and enjoy the experience… naturally.

At first, seeing others nude may feel unfamiliar. That’s completely normal. Most first-time visitors are surprised by how quickly it begins to feel natural—often within minutes. When everyone is nude, it simply stops being the focus.

Naturism isn’t about what you look like. It’s about how you feel when you finally stop worrying about it.

What to Expect on Your First Visit

Your Guide to Como

1. A Friendly, Inclusive Community

Lake Como welcomes singles, couples, families, and all people regardless of age, body type, race, religion, gender identity, or orientation. Everyone is treated with respect. Many first-time guests find that casual conversations begin naturally—whether it’s in the hot tub, at the café, or during an activity or event.

2. A Judgment-Free Environment

There’s no pressure to “look” a certain way. Naturists come in all ages, shapes, sizes, and backgrounds. You’ll quickly realize everyone is simply living comfortably.

3. Nudity Expectations

  • Nudity is the norm across the resort.
  • Required: pool, hot tub, and sauna
  • Expected: outdoors, sports, lakefront, walking trails (weather permitting)
  • Clothing allowed: during cold weather or for specific medical reasons (check at the office)

4. Towel Etiquette

Always carry a towel.
Sit on your own towel in all public seating areas—indoors and outdoors.

5. Photography Rules

Photography is strictly prohibited unless approved by management and supervised by staff.
This keeps everyone safe, relaxed, and respected.

6. Behavior Expectations

Naturism is non-sexual.
Lewd, provocative, or inappropriate behavior is not tolerated.
If you see something that makes you uncomfortable, speak to staff immediately.

First-Time Visitor Policy

For the safety of residents, members, and visitors, first-time guests must complete a simple check-in process:

Are you totally new to the clothes-free experience? Nudist resorts are often portrayed as rustic hippy communes in the movies and on TV. In reality, our resort is large, modern, and filled with well-educated, accomplished, and fun people.

At first, the sight of other nude guests may be a little startling. However, you’ll soon discover that nudists are amazingly comfortable in their own skin. Most guests stop noticing the nudity after about 15 minutes to an hour — it feels so natural and normal when everyone is doing it.

1. ID Required

Valid government-issued photo ID is required for all first-time visitors.

2. Required Background Check

All first-time guests must pass a criminal background check before entering the resort.

  • A Social Security number is required
  • Background checks must be renewed every two years.
  • Background can be processed by the office or by sending you a link directly to complete it
  • Processing may take several days—call ahead to avoid delays.

3. Guided Tour Required

First-time visitors receive a short, friendly tour from 10 am–5 pm daily (weather permitting).
This ensures you know expectations and feel comfortable. The tour is designed to answer questions, explain etiquette, and help first-time guests feel at ease before exploring on their own.

4. Open House Exceptions

Some large events may waive these requirements, but never on an individual basis.

5. Go at Your Own Pace

Your first naturist visit is exactly that—yours. Some guests feel comfortable right away, while others take a little time to settle in. There’s no pressure to rush or perform. You’re welcome to explore, relax, and participate at a pace that feels right for you.
